Why Google Plus Is Not Good For Your Business

Google Plus- the wait
People waited in anticipation for quite an extent to try out this new podium of Google Plus in hopes for further expanding their marketing strategies. The wait finally came to an end when Google introduced its business pages for the business community. People rushed towards in hopes of remarkable schemes of advertising and branding their products and services alike.

Nothing new
Among the many disadvantages and perhaps the sole restrictive factor which people have felt in the use of Google Plus is the fact that it does not provide an effective platform for branding or endorsing strategies for business owners. Companies looking for the marketing of their brand, people, cults etc found it difficult and a very vague attempt at Google Plus. Though the users could create their vast social circle for interaction but that’s all it seems to offer to the masses.

Though many think that Google has put nothing new on the table of social networking sites, these profile and business pages are similar and somewhat different too in comparison with their competitors in other social forums. These facts also account to be the many setbacks of Google Plus.

The disappointing facts

  • The first of your business page has to be introduced in the social circle for the page itself cannot add in anyone as part of the social circle
  • Though pages can be used for a myriad of purposes in your business ventures, the profiles have a limited usage that is it largely focuses to be used by people only
  • All pages have a built in plus one button ( this can be taken both as a benefit and a disadvantage, disallows for customization as per the user needs)
  • You would not receive notifications on your personal account that is by email. So you have to log in every time for a regular ‘check in’
  • Pages are not entitled to be actively engaged in application such as that of games. This is a setback for much of the promotion is done via games for it actively involves people, as in Facebook.
  • The pages are much localised and aid in searching for brands and the position along with the exact location of the business on board. ( this can once again prove to be beneficial and at times detrimental for a company)
  • The default setting of the business pages is public. This is by far the most negative aspect of these business pages for it gives the users no right to security in terms of publicising the content and therefore they have no freedom to customize and personalize what they want to show and what to not.

Call it fortunate or inopportune, Google Plus has a very easy user interface and is very much similar to Facebook. So if you happen to be a Facebook expert Google Plus is no hard a task and can be easily learnt for it’s quite easy and all the while captivating too.

  1. whenever facebook present no more option to improve any bookmarking site for business. facebook is awesome for social bookmarking.

    • Facebook is still the best social networking then :)

  2. I wouldn’t say that google plus is outright bad for your business. I think that it does give some publicity, but may not be as helpful as people anticipated. Still, any publicity is good publicity.
