  1. Choosing a web host carefully is very important. when I started online I had a web host who provided good service. Then it got sold. The service has never been the same, problems with uptime, problems logging in,support tickets never get answered, etc. Now they advertise 24 hour chat on the website, but what it actually amounts to is calling a number and leaving a message which most times does not get an answer.

I have finally decided to bail out and move site, although I am pre-paid for 10 more months. Will make sure they have 24 hr (real)chat support, good uptime, and that they are responsive to support tickets etc.

    • Thanks for sharing Myra. Yes, we all need high quality of services, include our hosting. As you told me, sometimes few change in the company can gave us bad influence if they can serve us better or at least same as before. Leaving them is a good decision :)

  2. I think most small business would do well to start of with the basic hosting – the shared hosting. Unless there is an obvious need for a heavy duty server, most folks would be well advised to choose the plain vanilla hosting. Albeit from a good provider. I have been using hostgator and bluehost for a few years and they are pretty good bets.

Hosting has become so cheap in the last 3-5 years, that the basic service provided now compare positively with high premium services from a few years ago (remember the 1GB bandwidth limit on most hosting packages?).

    • Agree with you Amanda, basic hosting is the first choice if we start a new website for our business. When the business grow we must consider our hosting to the next package ;)
