Tips And Tricks To Cut On Blog Clutter
Be it a (wo)man or food or website one thing is sure; the first impression you get about them is the lasting impression. Yeah, I never believed in love at first sight but I always believe esteem is created towards anything at the first sight.
Most of the bloggers I follow were the ones who impressed me in the first sight of their website. However I have seen many bloggers who have excellent content yet fail to impress their audience due to poor website maintenance.
I do read their blogs but with lot of strain and pain but not much readers will read since they don’t want to waste time on a ambiguous website when there are 100+ smarter ones available on the webosphere (for the same topic). So it is not only important that you get traffic, you have to engage every visitor and make them stick around.
Blog clutters are the culprits. They are like viruses they enter your blog and spoil you (am not trying to give life to clutters, just saying that they are dangerous to the hosts).
You can blame no one for blog clutters except you. So if you think that you don’t have enough audience due this blog clutter evil then sit back, relax and just do the following steps
Keep a blog roll
This can be essential for both Ads as well as your popular posts. Segregate the blogs based on the number of likes or comments and based on date. Now you can create a blog roll at the right or left side of your blog that will display your recent posts or popular posts.
Trick:
You can even have tabs to show what users want to view. For instance in the blog roll create tabs showing most viewed, recently viewed, recently added, Ads, etc. Thereby users will view what they want. This will make your blog not only clutter free but also user friendly.
Links are the Kings
For any post you write the links you use are the top-grosser. When you are writing a series post or post that may have some reference to your previous post don’t write it as refer my previous post on topic “so and so” dated “so and so”. This type of writing attitude clearly irritates the readers. This is the biggest clutter in your blog because this will lead your readers to search for that post. Therefore provide links then and there.
Trick:
Never be afraid to provide off-site links i.e. external links because external links will be more effective especially when you give links to the official sites then users are more likely to trust the accuracy of your posts. This will in return reduce blog clutter too since you don’t need to explain in sentences ; a link will make your job easier.
Keep it simple
Be it your post or your Ad or even the whole webpage you must keep it simple. Simplicity always rocks. Avoid jargons in your writing style, avoid flashy Ads, design in your web page in user friendly way.
Keep things organized. This is the first step towards clutter free blogging environment. Follow these steps for a simple yet enticing blog.
- Classify your posts according to some niche for instance blogging tips, relationships, etc.
- Place the facebook like button, twitter follow button, comment options at the right places where users can reach them.
- Give details about you. This must be precise and concise.
Trick:
Hire a designer to design an exclusive page for you but make sure the webpage has your personal touch to it.
These are the three important steps I follow to keep my blog clutter free. Apart from these certain blogs need few other strategies such as optimizing the multimedia content.
Some bloggers use YouTube video etc as a reference or as the post itself (I too use it a few times). In such a state of affairs you must optimize your multimedia content for mobile users too at the same time don’t use video alone, write valuable points towards the video else your post may frustrate your viewers especially if the video takes much time to load.
When these are the explicit ways in which your blog’s clutter can be shut off, some of the implicit ways are to optimize key words and meta tags, use headers, etc.

You’re absolutely right. Even though content is King and will always be, promotion is Queen. And to promote your blog effectively you need to make a good impression, thereby minimizing clutter is absolutely a must.
